Project Summary
Bags on the move!
Our Millwright team demolished, salvaged, and retrofitted the existing baggage conveyor systems, as well as installed brand new conveyors at the Portland International Airport. Harder’s scope also involved the entire catwalk system associated with the baggage conveyors. HMC installed a total of 402 new conveyors which add up to 4,791 linear feet, and demolished 316 conveyors. All of this work occurred while the airport was in full operation with minimal shutdowns.
This project required the Harder team to be extremely flexible about when work can occur in order to accommodate the needs of the overall TCORE project. Our team made great efforts to complete work ahead of schedule. Harder’s shifts had as many as 20-30 craftspeople at a time and was completed in 2024, but HMC will continue to complete tasks and fine tune the system through the end of the year.
