The new Northwest Library at 2030 NW Pettygrove Street transformed an existing 17,600-square-foot building into a modern community resource, more than doubling the size of the former Northwest branch and expanding access to programs, services, and gathering spaces. Harder Mechanical Contractors provided design-assist, fabrication, and installation services for a variety of custom architectural metal systems, including interior and exterior wall panels, soffit panels, perforated feature panels, screenwall assemblies, gutters, and architectural flashings. A defining feature of the project is the custom perforated façade, where intricate metal panels create a flowing "flock of birds" pattern across the building's exterior. Using advanced laser fabrication technology, Harder's team transformed the architect's vision into a striking architectural statement that integrates seamlessly with the building's geometry. Through close coordination, precision manufacturing, and expert installation, Harder helped create a new landmark for Northwest Portland that combines innovative design, durable craftsmanship, and lasting community impact.
